1990s and the Remaking of the Neoconservative Foreign Policy Paradigm

This essay explains how neoconservative foreign policy doctrine evolved from strenuously seeking to defeat the communist enemy during Cold War thoroughly preserve America’s newfound “unipolar moment” by constructing new enemies defeat. It analyzes generational transition within movement 1970s 1990s and its empire-building project in post-Cold era. Based on publications contributions magazines such as Commentary, The National Interest, Weekly Standard well publications, reports, statements of think tanks (The Coalition for a Democratic Majority, Committee Present Danger, American Enterprise Institute, Project New Century, among others), argues that themes associated with neoconservatives after 9/11—such militarism, preemptive war, regime change, democratization, unilateralism—had been rooted discourse since 1970s. also shows post-9/11 approach was product narratives era fall communism.
